Episode 106: A case of the ickies
The front door opened downstairs and James and Lucy stumbled inside, the former looking horrible, and only a pull-up on his lower half.
"Shit," Katie whispered to herself, rushing down the stairs to help. Logan went wide eyed at how sick James looked, following behind the girl.
"Where's his insulin?" Lucy asked softly, wrapping a spare blanket around James.
"I've got it," Katie said. James whimpered when he saw Logan hovering, so he didn't expect the pinch from the injection. Not only did the shriek that escaped his lips wake Camille and Carlos, his bladder released. What was even worse was that the pull-up didn't hold much, and a puddle quickly spread underneath him and on to the floor.
"I'll get towels," Logan said softly, running to the upstairs. James looked at Camille before bursting in to tears.
"Shhh, it's okay, you're okay," Katie Cooed, cradling his head against her chest. "I should have warned you."
"No! I should be able to-"
"You're sick, you get an excuse," Camille said from the sofa. "And no one's mad James."
"Told you," Lucy said, playing with James' hair.
"Here, you need to eat with the insulin," Carlos said, coming over with a granola bar. James hesitantly took it and began eating.
"Thanks," he mumbled, nibbling on it. "Um, I'm Sowwy fow running away last night Camille."
"I forgive you," Camille said with a smile. "I just wanted to know you were okay."
"N-not really. I was dumb and didn't listen to Katie. This happens a lot," He said softly, finishing the granola bar. "I didn't mean ta upset everyone."
"You didn't," Logan said. "We just wanted to know you were okay. We wouldn't make fun of- well, just... go get cleaned up and then we can talk." James nodded, going upstairs.
"This happens a lot?" Camille asked Katie.
"Almost every time," Katie sighed, grabbing the clorox from under the sink. "I don't get why he's resisting the protection."
"What'd you do to get him to wear it at the hospital?" Lucy asked, mopping up the mess with her towel from Logan.
"Um, I might have uh..."
"Oh," Was all Lucy said, knowing they had babied him. "Did it help?"
"Yeah. He didn't even realize it was going on though, and he wouldn't wear anything more than a pull-up."
"Leave that to me," Lucy said with a wink. Katie smiled, handing Logan the cleaning supplies and starting on breakfast.
AUGH I CAN'T WRITE THAT ANYMORE SO I'M SKIPPING AHEAD TO AFTER BREAKFAST:
"Katie you know we still have to talk about it," Camille said as she handed Logan her plate.
"Talk about what?" she asked softly.
"Yeah what?" Carlos added.
"Whether or not you want to make a Demo with Gustavo," Camille said firmly.
"Sissy," Katie whined softly, feeling everyone staring at her.
It was silent for a while before James finally spoke up, "Why didn't you tell us?"
"Cuz I wasn't sure about it," Katie admitted, blushing brightly. "Cuz I mean I want to be a writer. I AM a writer. And if I start music, what would that do to my writing?"
"Launch it to new heights," Carlos said. "You're amazing and you really can do anything you want to if you really want to."
"Yeah, and I think it'd be good for you and Gustavo, I've heard you sing," Logan said.
Katie took a deep breath. "Alright," She said. "I'm gonna make a demo."
"You didn't," Logan said. "We just wanted to know you were okay. We wouldn't make fun of- well, just... go get cleaned up and then we can talk." James nodded, going upstairs.
